Learn and Earn Internship Program

 MIS Help Desk, General Information Technology Internship
 
Anticipated Start and End Dates:  Spring 2023 - Ongoing
Remote or In Person: On-site Internship- 52 Chauncy St, Boston, MA 20111
Hours Per Week: 20 – 40 hours per week
Pay Rate and Travel Stipend:  $18/hour and one-time $240 travel stipend
Internship Class: If chosen for the internship, you will take the three credit INT-299 Learn and Earn internship course during spring semester (you pay for the course but if an internship course is not part of your program, we can try to see if a required course can be replaced but this is not always possible).

Job Description: 
The MIS Help Desk, General Information Technology position (“position”) will be assisting with the daily operation of the MIS Help Desk and general IT activities. The position is responsible for answering the Help Desk’s phone calls and email. The position records the calls and emails into MIS’s ticket tracking software. The activities are in accordance to MIS’s Help Desk standard operating procedures. The position acts as the initial point-of-contact for help requests coming into MIS. The position will also generate reports, as requested by MIS’s directors, for auditing and oversight of the Help Desk. In addition to the Help Desk duties, the position will assist in various tasks as requested by MIS’s department directors.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
•            Answer the phone and email and create Help Desk tickets for MIS
•            Run reports from the MIS Help Desk software as requested by the departments directors
•            Provide fist-level support and problem resolution for phone and email requests, where applicable
•            Escalate Help Desk tickets to the appropriate team member/Director as necessary
•            Assist team members/Directors with ticket resolution as appropriate
•            Assist in various tasks as directed by the department’s Directors (ex. scan documents into OnBase)
 
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
•            Experience with office equipment (phone, fax, copier)
•            Experience with Microsoft Windows (10 preferred)
•            Experience with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook – 2016 preferred)
•            Ability to speak and read English, does not have to be the primary language
•            Experience working with computers in a networked environment
o            knowledgeable of various components of a computer (i.e. computer, monitor, etc.)
o            have a basic understanding of a network
•            Experience working independently and with a team of other professionals
 
About the Management Information Systems (MIS) Internship Program
The MIS Internship Program is designed around college’s semesters. A potential candidate can hold an internship position for up to one year. The internship program is a paid position at the BHA. A potential candidate can expect to learn various skills with regards to a large-scale, distributed-work-location MIS environment. The candidate can also expect to learn and build customer relationship management skills. Finally, the candidate can expect to gain experience and build proficiency in a computer technology field, both as an individual and as part of a team.
